CSS Naked Day

I’m a little late to the party here, mostly because I just heard about this event an hour or so ago. It’s apparently been a yearly event since 2006 (!), so I’m not sure how I missed it before? Anyway. It’s CSS Naked Day! Apparently!

From the official website:

The idea behind CSS Naked Day is to promote web standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of HTML, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and of course, a good old play on words. In the words of 2006, it’s time to show off your <body> for what it really is.

So, if you were wondering why the site looks a little more… spartan than usual today, there’s your answer. Brutalist web design, courtesy of your browser’s user settings! I wish that more sites would participate in events like this, but I can imagine that’s there a contingent of folks out there who really don’t want the general public to know how they live.
